김보슬은 동양 철학과 자연, 생명체 간의 유기적 연결성을 탐구하며 현실과 가상의 경계, 미디어와 퍼포먼스의 융합에서 활동하는 아티스트이자 디렉터이다. 그녀의 작업은 기후 위기, 해수면 상승, 지구 온난화 등 물리적 변화로 인해 새롭게 형성되는 생태계와 환경을 다루며, 이러한 상상에 과학적 근거를 더해 도가적 관점의 대체 현실을 제안한다.

동양의 신화와 철학에서 영감을 받아 미래 생명체와 환경의 관계를 재조명하며, 보이지 않는 생명체 간의 연결성과 순환성을 주제로 메타버스, 애니메이션, NFT 아트 등 다양한 매체를 통해 표현한다. 그녀는 인공지능, 모션 캡처, AR/XR, 텔레프레젠스 등 첨단 기술을 작품에 활용해 몰입적 경험을 제공하며, 인간의 근원을 탐구하고 지각과 감각의 확장을 모색한다.

최근 주요 작품으로는 인간과 자연의 유기적 연결성을 중심으로 한 메타버스 아트 'Hyper Connection', 동서양 신화와 역사, 문화가 융합된 가상 생태계를 탐험하는 'Hybrid Nature', 국경과 시공간의 경계를 넘어서는 XR 퍼포먼스 'Invisible Touch', 생체 데이터를 활용한 원격 음악적 교감의 텔레마틱 퍼포먼스 'Vital Signs', 동양 오행 속성과 생명체의 순환을 다룬 비주얼 퍼포먼스 'Changing Tides' 및 'Micro Macro Loop' 등이 있다.

그녀의 작품은 프라하 쿼드레날레(PQ, 체코, 2011), 뉴욕 타임스퀘어 (2022), S.A.T(Society of Arts & Technology, 2023), 뉴욕 Space776 갤러리(뉴욕, 2024) 등 국제적 무대를 포함해 파라다이스아트랩, 아트센터 나비, 울산시립미술관, DDP 등 국내외 유수 기관에서 전시되었다. 또한, '마술피리', '돈 조반니', '굿바이 이상' 등 공연 영상 미디어 작업을 통해 예술의 전당, 세종문화회관 등 주요 무대에서 시공간을 확장하는 혁신적인 작품을 선보였다.

현재 서울예술대학교 디지털아트 전공 부교수로 재직하며, 글로벌 네트워크 플랫폼 컬처허브의 한국 디렉터를 역임하는 등 예술 창작, 연구, 교육 분야에서 활발히 활동하고 있다.

Bo Sul Kim is a media/ digital artist experimenting at the intersection of art and technology. Based in Seoul, her work is inspired by the idea of organic connectivity between humans and nature, rooting from eastern philosophies and imaginations. Her artistic vision encompasses experimenting with emerging technologies such as network-based telepresence, hologram, AR/XR, ,metaverse to cross the boundary between reality and virtuality, media and performance.

Recently, she presented metaverse art “Hybrid Nature,” a metaverse art about the interconnectedness between humankind and nature, engaging AI, NFT, avatar in the Metaverse virtual world investigating the Five Elements in eastern philosophy and exploring the vitality of material entities through microscopic imagery. She directed and created “Invisible Touch,” an XR performance that explores a surreal world where bodies and virtual avatars cross borders in telepresence network, “Vital Signs,” a telematic performance in which remote artists attempt communication using biometric data, Visual performance “Changing Tides”, “Micro Macro Loop”, which explored the five elements, focused on the vitality of matter, and combined images of life inspired by microscope.

Major exhibitions and performances include 2011 ‘Prague Quadrennial’ (Czech), 2015 “Light, Space” Media Art Invitation Exhibition, (Citizens’ Hall Gallery, Seoul), 2018 “Panorama” Under the Radar Festival, (La Mama E.T.C, NYC), 2022 “Temporal Vision” (Times Square, NYC), 2023 "Miro Meta art (Mirocenter, Gwangju) , Ulsan Art Museum (Ulsan), Artcenter Nabi (Seoul), and Gangnam G-light media wall.

Her professional experience include designing operas, experimental theatres working with Seoul Performing Arts Company, Sejong, Seoul Arts center: venues located within prominent national arts institutions.

She worked at District, producing 4D Live Park, a holographic performance, and was an art director with Cheil Worldwide Digital Content group, developing large-scale creative content.

A visionary artist, Bo Sul utilizes a multidisciplinary approach in creating various contact points in between art and technology. She served as the Director of CultureHub Korea and currently professor of Digital Arts at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, cultivating international collaborations around immersive media projects and educational experiences.
